PRINCIPAL  

The challenges we face in education today are substantially greater than in times past.  For that reason, I have taken the position as principal of STAR Academy Charter School.  It is my goal, as well as the goal of the school, to create academic success for students who are presently enrolled in high priority schools throughout our city.  Many of these students have not been given an opportunity to succeed, and our daily mission is to provide maximum student achievement for each individual student.

 

The focus of STAR Academy is literacy and mathematical competency.  We are a college preparatory school that has "gone back to the basics" of education.  We offer a rigorous curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for our students.  In addition to our content-based subjects of reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies and science, we offer a variety of co-curricular courses including music, art, foreign language, drama, public speaking, African American studies, physical education, technology, and the visual arts.

 

STAR Academy is a school of excellence developing students of excellence.  We are a family oriented, community based school of administrators, teachers, staff members, students and parents.  We strive to create a learning community for our students that permeates this community and city-at-large.  My commitment to education is stronger than ever, and that is evidenced in the students and programs of STAR Academy.
