Local Attractions

Center for Southern Folklore
Learn about the art, music, and cultural heritage of the South at the Center for Southern Folklore. This tiny “shop” in downtown Memphis is always free to visit and often invites local makers and musicians for live storytelling sessions.

Memphis Zoo
Home to over 3500 different animals, the zoo is one of the best ways to expose your family to the beauty and wonder of our natural world. And if you’re a resident, it offers free admission every Tuesday afternoon.

National Civil Rights Museum
Located in the historic Lorraine Motel, the National Civil Rights Museum chronicles history from the early days of slavery to the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Tennessee residents can visit for free on Monday afternoons.

Shelby Farms Park
This local 4,500-acre park is full of bike trails and playgrounds and spots for fishing and flying kites. It’s open every day during daylight hours.
