For your convenience, we’ve compiled a list of the questions we hear most frequently. We also invite you to review our student handbooks for more details or for clarification on our policies. If you still have questions, give us a call—we’re happy to help!

How do I enroll my child at STAR Academy?

We are thrilled to welcome new members to our community! Please visit our Admissions page for information about enrolling your child at our school.

Does your school offer breakfast and lunch?

We operate an excellent nutrition program at STAR, serving breakfast and lunch every school day for free to all students. For more information or to see what’s for lunch, please visit our vendor’s website.

What if my child requires medication during the school day?

We will administer medication in accordance with state regulations and with physician and parental approval. Please bring medications in the original, labeled packaging to the front office.

Do you provide transportation services?

We do not provide student transportation, but we do encourage carpooling. We also offer free before and after school care to give parents more flexibility over transporting their students.

What is PowerSchool and how do I get a username and password to use it?

PowerSchool is just another way we keep communication between home and school strong. It provides you with almost real-time access to your child’s grades, attendance history, and other important information. You will receive your log-in information once your child is enrolled at STAR Academy.

What are the school hours?

Before School Care: 6:30–7:20 a.m.

What do I need to do if my child will be absent from school?

If your child must miss school for illness or another reason, please message your teacher through Class Dojo on the day of the student’s absence or contact our front office. If possible, please stop by the school to pick up any missed assignments to keep your child from falling behind. For information about attendance requirements and what qualifies as an excused absence, please refer to our student handbooks.

Do you enforce a dress code at STAR?

To maintain a focus on academics, we have instituted a uniform policy at STAR. Our official dress uniform includes the following:

  • White oxford-type dress shirt
  • Khaki, black, or navy pants or skirt
  • STAR cardigan or vest with an optional STAR tie
  • Solid-color dress shoes and belt in black, brown, or navy
  • STAR blazer for fifth and sixth-grade students

On “dress down” days, students may wear the following:

  • STAR polo or STAR t-shirt
  • Khaki, black, or navy pants or skirt
  • Solid-color dress shoes and belt in black, brown, or navy
  • OR solid-color athletic shoes (not neon)

In inclement weather, students may wear solid-color jackets and coats without visible name-brand labels in navy, black, red, or white. STAR hoodies may be worn any time.

Will my child have access to the internet while on campus?

Students can access the internet for homework and school-related research from our computer lab and some classrooms under the supervision of qualified school personnel. We expect our students to behave responsibly on school computer networks.
